Datacenter Setup
There are three aspects which are essential for operating a high availability datacenter:
* Power
* Cooling
* Connectivity
To provide this high availability setup the world's leading company for uninterruptable power supply, APC, has setup their new type of UPS. Emergency power is provided by a SDMO generator. The fuel tank supports up to 48 hours of power supply before additional fuel needs to be added.
As with all datacenters nearly all incoming power is converted into heat SmartDC uses Stulz, one of the market leaders for high end cooling in IT environments. SmartDC is connected through a fully redundant path to the AMS-IX. For our routing we use Brocade RX8 and RX4 routers.
